Spar records solid sales growth

Spar has announced that sales in its fiscal first quarter rose by a solid 9.2% year-on-year to R8.8bn. The chain said results were helped by volume growth, and due to lower food inflation. However, Spar also said the quarter to end-December was challenging, and added that it remains cautious for the rest of the year.
