Game continues to open rebuilt looted stores

Following the period of unrest in July, which affected 10 of its stores, African retailer Game continues to revamp some of its best-performing affected stores in line with its overall turnaround strategy – Retail Reimagined. This week, the retailer welcomes shoppers to visit its stores in Pietermaritzburg CBD, Pinetown and Empangeni.

These stores have all been upgraded with a new modernised look-and-feel including an improved store layout, which includes an interactive wellness area as well as Game’s expanded categories such as clothing, party, baby and bestselling adult and children’s books.

As we continue to roll out our ‘Retail Reimagined’ strategy, our aim is to transform and improve the overall customer experience. In total, we are planning to revamp 68 stores this year of which 5 stores have now been completed and reopened. Earlier this year we reopened the store inside Jabulani Mall in Soweto as well as the Vosloorus stores in Gauteng,” explains Andrew Stein, Vice President of Game.

The re-opening of the stores will be celebrated through ribbon cutting ceremonies on Tuesday the 1st of March in Pietermaritzburg CBD, Thursday 3rd March in Pinetown and Friday 4th of March in Empangeni. A R5 000 voucher will be awarded to the first customer to spend R500 or more in each store.

“As we continue to move forward with our turnaround strategy, we continue to make positive strides and remain committed to our value proposition of offering a wide product range at unbeatable prices for our price-conscious consumers,” concludes Stein.
